Melco basic troubleshooting guide

If you are experiencing any kind of sewing or quality issues with your Melco embroidery machine, please follow all the steps below:-

  • Check the bobbin tension is set to 250-300 with the thread out of the pigtail and when pulling the thread through it is nice and smooth.
  • Change the bobbin thread and bobbin case.
  • Check the needle is not bent, blunt or at the wrong angle if in any doubt change the needle.
  • Inspect the thread feed wheels for grooves, thread, or damage.
  • For dense fabrics like caps or leather and for speciality threads like metallics use a larger size needle (85’s / 90’s).
  • Check the presser foot is the correct height, if unsure turn the gear completely anticlockwise to the lowest point
  • Check the machine is threaded correctly.
  • Check that the minimum preset is set to 4 points and not lower, it should be set to a minimum of 6 for non-polyester thread.
  • Run the Amaya test design using any needles you are experiencing thread breaks on to determine if it is the current design causing the issue: Download here
  • Remove the needle plate and clean out the trimmer area and rotary hook area, lubricate when refitting.
  • Check and adjust the rotary hook support if required using the guide: How to adjust the rotary hook support
  • Reboot the machine and software to ensure good communication.
