Recommended environment conditions for your TexJet DTG printer

Just like any inkjet printer, the environment in which a DTG printer is operated in is important. Operating the printer outside of the recommended specifications will inevitable cause print quality issues.

When we refer to environment, we specifically mean temperature and relative humidity of the room where you are using the printer and most importantly the internal temperature and humidity of the printer.

To maintain the warranty on your printer, please ensure that your operating environment is within the recommended range.

Environmental operating conditions

Temperature: 10°C - 30°C

Humidity: 30% - 70%

Optimum operating conditions

Temperature: 18°C - 22°C

Humidity: 50% - 60%

Monitoring the temperature and humidity

The printer has an integrated hygrometer which displays the temperature and humidity readings from inside your printer.

These readings may be different to an external hygrometer placed in your room, as these are the internal readings. This is the most important part.

The printer will indicate when the internal temperatures are out of range.

How maintain a good environment

There are many ways in which you can maintain a good environment in which to use your DTG printer:-

  • Purchase a hygrometer to monitor the temperature and humidity in your room as well as using the integrated readings on your printer
  • Consider the location of the printer:
    • Do not put it in front of a window with direct sunlight, this can cause excessive heating
    • Do not put it in front of a doorway with a through draft, this can cause temperatures to fluctuate rapidly, especially in the colder months
  • Consider the location of other equipment
    • Is it close to the heat press, this will create excess heat and can increase the humidity with the release of excess steam in the pressing processes
    • Do you operate other equipment that produce heat
  • During the colder months, consider the heating requirements to maintain the minimum temperature
  • During the hotter months, consider the cooling requirements to reduce the temperature, please note that when running air conditioning units, this will reduce the humidity in the environment so you may need to introduce a humidifier at the same time
